Know they're here and let them go. ~~~~~~~ Is it a surprise to you that, in the 100% of our lives we are filled with thoughts, for most of us, 100% of the time? They can be pleasant thoughts, neither pleasant nor unpleasant thoughts, or unpleasant thoughts. Thoughts that we need to think deliberately for ideas, for planning, or for our families, these thoughts are useful and that's ok. But have you been bogged down by useless thoughts that are causing you to get angry, jealous, depressed, agitated? You mentally chat with your own thoughts untill you think what is happening inside your mental proliferation is real and all your negative emotions start to arise. When you are praised, or when you are blamed, you carry those happy thoughts, angry or depressing thoughts all day long and cannot let go, even when the praise or blame had ended days or weeks, months or even years ago! You think that the thoughts that arise are who you are, and they belong to you. You attach to the stories that your thoughts tell you, but actually most of these thoughts are rubbish and not worth engaging in. Our mind, in it's true nature is actually very clear and bright, and is always at peace, and it is like a mirror that can know and reflect everything in it. It is just like the bright sky behind the clouds. The clouds, are like the thoughts that arise and pass away. If we just look at the clouds and attach to them, which are impermanent, which come and go, which arise and disappear without trace, we will loose sight of our clear, unperturbed nature and might end up deep into emotional trouble. If we can always maintain the clear bright sky in our mind and know that thoughts are just thoughts and they are like clouds that arise and disappear, we will be balanced and stable. As we think, so we are! When we attach to our thinking, for example an angry thought, we become angry, and it gets worst when we keep thinking about it. But it is NOT WHO WE ARE ! That's why it is very important to be able to have a clear mind to observe our thoughts, knowing what is good and bad, and be able to let go of useless thoughts. It is also very important to be able to observe the emotions and feelings that arise on our body caused by positive or negative thoughts, objectively. We can then react accordingly without harming ourselves and others. Remember, we are not our thoughts, and thoughts are not us.
